What to look for
Most plumbing calls fall into three buckets: geyser problems, blocked drains, and leaks that have been quietly running up a bill or damaging a wall. The thing worth checking is whether the plumber diagnoses before quoting. A fixed price offered over the phone for an unseen blockage usually means either a padded quote or a return visit at extra cost. For geyser work, ask whether they replace the element and thermostat together, since replacing only the failed part often means a second callout within months. For anything involving walls or floors, agree in advance who makes good the tiling and plaster.
