What to look for
Electrical work is where load-shedding does its quiet damage: repeated outages and surges wear out distribution boards, and badly installed changeover switches between grid and backup power are a common cause of both equipment damage and danger to line workers. Use an electrician who will show you their wireman's licence, who tests and labels the board rather than leaving unmarked breakers, and who installs a proper changeover rather than a makeshift connection. For any new circuit, ask for a certificate of compliance on completion. If a quote for backup power integration does not mention earthing, ask why.
