What to look for
Municipal supply is unreliable across much of Zimbabwe, and a borehole is a substantial investment made largely on trust, because almost none of the work remains visible once it is finished. Reputable drillers separate siting from drilling and will tell you honestly when a survey suggests poor yield, rather than drilling regardless and charging for a dry hole. Establish in advance who carries the cost if no water is struck — practice varies, and this is where most disputes begin. Ask for the depth, casing specification and yield in litres per hour in writing on completion, and whether the pump is included. A driller who cannot produce a completion certificate for previous jobs is one to avoid.
